Last week I attended the Uptime Institute's Data Center Design
Charrette and came away with a lot of news and ideas. For one, the
American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning
Engineers (ASHRAE) has really ramped up to tackle data center energy
use. The organization plans to expand its recommended temperature and
humidity ranges for servers and is standardizing a way to monitor
data center infrastructure energy consumption. Find out more in our
series of podcast interviews from the event.

We also have experts from the Uptime Institute on hand to weigh the
tradeoffs involved with measuring IT energy use at the power
distribution against those of measuring at the uninterruptible power
supply. Jonathan Koomey offers new perspectives on IT investment
strategies. And the Environmental Protection Agency's Andrew Fanara
talks about the latest data center scuttlebutt from Washington, D.C.

processor. Montvale comes in seven iterations, six dual-core and one
