One of the hardest things that I have to work on myself is patience.  How about you?  I tend to make things happen, so when it comes to "surrender" as both the movie, The Secret (www.thesecret.tv) tells us, and many of the world's religions, that is challenging for me.  How about you?

Dear Amit,
photo
The theme this week is to cultivate "an attitude of gratitude."  This was sent to me from one of our subscribers in India, my friend, Prem:

What ever that happens in life, happens for
good.....so stop worrying about the future and forget the past.

After Sept. 11th, one company invited the remaining members of other companies who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their available office space. At a morning meeting, the head of security told stories of why  these people were alive, and all the stories were just the 'L I T T L E' things.

As you might know, the head of the company survived that day because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.
One of them missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
 One's car wouldn't start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have. One couldn't get a taxi.

The one that struck everyone was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone......... all the little things that annoy me. I think
to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment...

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated.

God is at work watching over you. Just simply accept the small annoyances; there might be a good reason for the annoyance.  Need to slow down?  Read on...

Life is FAST!  Slow Down Poem

slow downHave you ever watched kids
     On a merry-go-round
Or listened to the  rain lapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

     You better slow down
     Don't dance so fast
     Time is short
     The music won't last.

Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask "How are you?"
     Do you hear the reply?
     When the day is done,
Do you lie in your bed
     With the next hundred chores
     Running through your head?

     You'd better slow down
     Don't dance so fast
     Time is short
     The music won't last.

     Ever told your child,
     We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
      Ever lost touch,
     Let a good friendship die
     'Cause you never had time
     To call and say "Hi"?

     You'd better slow down
     Don't dance so fast
     Time is short
     The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
     Thrown away...

    Life is not a race.
     Do take it slower
     Hear the music
     Before the song is over.

Fall: My Favorite Time of Year
Message for all the pumpkins in this MondayAM Motivation patch:

pumpkinsA woman was asked by a coworker, 'What is it like to be a Christian?'

The coworker replied, 'It is like being a pumpkin.'  God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.  Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.

He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed.  Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.'

Five Tips for Better Time Management
  1. Plan your day the evening before, not the morning of ...list priorities in the order of their importance.
  2. Eliminate the non-essentials, which is the real wisdom of priority management: focus.
  3. If you're interrupted, and you will be, get right back to the task at hand.  Deal with the important versus the urgent.
  4. When given a deadline, artifically give yourself a deadline a few days before it's really due.
  5. Have a system!  Whether it's a yellow pad of paper, a FranklinCovey planner, Priority Manager or Daytimer, get and use a system -- and the same one for business and personal.
