Super Mario Bros. Born Sept. 13, 1985: Nintendo releases in Japan a new game featuring mushroom-eating, turtle-stomping plumbers named Mario and Luigi. Called "Super Mario Bros" it's the work of game design god Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of "Donkey Kong," and goes on to become the best-selling video game of all time.
