Salary Negotiating Tip#4

Negotiating How-to-Guide

"Gain The Skills & Confidence You Need
To Get The Salary You Want"

Salary Negotiating Tip #4

Steer clear of fibbing during the interview

While it may be tempting to inflate your current salary and tell a few white lies here or there to impress the interviewer, you’re actually doing yourself a great disservice for a couple of reasons:

  1. The more bluffing you do, the more uncomfortable you become, which is apparent to the employer. You don’t want to appear uncomfortable or nervous.
  1. Also, consider this: what will happen if a lie is uncovered during a background check? You don’t want to endanger the offer and damage your integrity as a candidate for the position. Or even worse:  Be fired for a lie discovered after you already took the job!

Don’t be a bluffer or a liar! The most successful negotiations both long-term and short-term are fair and truthful ones.
