CONTACT: Back from the 2007 National Black Theatre Festival Opening in Los Angeles with Six Special Performances, Beginning Sept. 8th Los Angeles, CA (BlackNews.com) - Award-winning actress Ella Joyce captures the famous moment in the life of Rosa Parks, affectionately called "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement", in her highly praised, one-woman tribute A Rose Among Thorns. She will return to Los Angeles with six special performances in September after rave reviews from the National Black Theatre Festival in August. These performances will be on weekends only: Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 5 pm beginning Saturday, Sept. 8 running through Sunday, Sept. 23th at Stage 52 Playhouse, located at 5299 W. Washington Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90016. A Rose Among Thorns produced by Stage 52 and Ms. Thing Productions, and directed by Dan Martin, takes audiences on a mesmerizing journey not only exploring the "famous incident", but also exploring the deeds of many other unsung heroes of the Civil Rights Movement through the eyes of Rosa Parks. This loving collection of historical information infuses theater-goers of all ages to seek social change and active involvement with issues that concern us today. Mrs. Parks (through Ella Joyce) tells her story simply as she speaks of things past, present, and eternal.
