STORY BEHIND THE SONG
According to Norro Wilson, writing a song for a woman involves thinking about “stuff” that women might think or say, and Tammy Wynette’s 1972 hit, “My Man” was one of those tunes!
Norro commented, “I came up with that song title myself. You know people keep asking me…..”how do you write a song for women?” Well to tell the truth…I’m not sure we even know how. You just think about stuff that you think women might think or say and sometimes it even turns out to be profound. And other times it don’t mean flip. It’s a man’s approach to what we think they think. And that’s how that song came about.”
Tammy’s Epic Records single of “My Man” entered the country music charts September 16th, 1972 and made it to number one.
It was her 21st charted song, her 12th number one and was on the charts for 14 weeks.

“Live Fast, Love Hard: The Faron Young Story"
We'll be celebrating publication of "Live Fast, Love Hard: The Faron Young Story" with a reunion of the Country Deputies on the Midnite Jamboree, Saturday, November 10, 2007, at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Nashville.
See http://etrecordshop.com/mj.htm for more info--or to order the book. The
FARON YOUNG, FIFTY YEARS AGO: As the rock 'n' roll craze took over the music business in 1957, Faron worried about his future as an entertainer. "Hell, a hillbilly couldn't get a job," he said later. With his earnings cut in half, he told himself, "Oh, my God! I'm going to be poor!" On September 6, 1957, he became a father for the second time, with the birth of Robin Farrell. Hilda and Faron liked unique names. Hilda recalls watching the movie "Robin Hood"
about that time, and her dad came up with Farrell--to sound like Faron but still be different. Baby Robin (who later changed his name to Robyn and who will be appearing with the Deputies on the Midnite Jamboree) joined two-year-old Damion in the Youngs' Brush Hill home. Happy birthday, Robyn!!

Terry Counts in Tennessee says, "I am looking forward to November 10th and will probably get Faron's book then...I already have so many 'autographs' from that turkey...my favourite is the letter he and all the Deputies sent me from Germany...they toured over there and I wanted them to bring me back a cuckoo clock...so they all wrote, drew a clock on the letter and signed it. . . . Looking forward to the Robbins thing, too...lots of stuff going on with him right now."

"Hank Williams Jr. Plays Unforgettable Show At Tootsies"
Hank Williams Junior dropped by Tootsie's honky-tonk on lower Broadway Sunday night, and it's a show no one will forget.
Hank was right in the middle of his famous "Family Tradition" song when his false teeth took a stage dive.
Hank scrambled around looking for them, while swearing and telling the crowd that he paid $5000 for the chompers and they should stay put!
Eventually, Hank got some teeth back in his mouth, and he declared, "half-time's over! I'm back!"
And he sang for another half hour or so.
