House draft would overhaul ed-tech funding

Lawmakers have introduced a proposal they say would bring schools into the 21st century. Ed tech leaders are commending changes proposed in a House committee discussion draft on the future of NCLB, saying such changes would be a big step in realizing that the use of technology in the classroom is essential to improving schools and learning in the 21st century.  Full Story

Faster Wi-Fi in the works to transfer data

Georgia Tech Professor Joy Laskar and other scientists are developing technology that uses high radio frequencies to transfer data files. Big and expensive specialized radios have been used for years to send and receive high-frequency signals. But now, Georgia Tech Professor Joy Laskar and other scientists at the Georgia Electronic Design Center have figured out a way to cheaply transfer huge data files over short distances--with extremely high radio frequencies and a tiny chip. Network solutions provider Cisco Systems and mtvU, a television and internet network just for college students, have chosen winners of the 2007 Digital Incubator grants.
