Welcome

Welcome to the August 2007 edition of the Assist newsletter. We've pulled together some light reading for you as well as some really exciting software and hardware developments for the summer months and new term.

Introducing EasyConverter by Dolphin Software

For many years we've been campaigning for better access to alternative formats for those readers who find it difficult to read from printed materials. We've tested a lot of OCR and conversion programs but Dolphin have now released the most simple but powerful one we've ever tested.

Combining an intuitive interface with a powerful and accurate engine, EasyConverter can convert text documents or files into:

  • Large print documents
  • MP3 audio files
  • Navigable DAISY text and audio books
  • Accessible text version
  • Braille

EasyConverter enables you to offer information to your students, customers or readers in the format that suits them in a few easy steps. To find out more visit our EasyConverter web page.

Technology for Medical Professionals and Students

We've always had a lot of demand for technology to support those who work or study in medical fields but have difficulties with medical terminology. We've recently updated our article on dyslexic.com which lists a wide range of solutions that can be used to help with medical terminology. We hope to be adding to this range over the coming months. www.dyslexic.com/medical-tools.
