NYC's taxi fleet will be green by 2012

The city's yellow taxi fleet will go entirely hybrid within five years, Mayor
Michael Bloomberg announced Tuesday. Under Bloomberg's plan, that number will
increase to 1,000 by October 2008, then will grow by about 20% each year until
2012, when every yellow cab will be a hybrid.

Mars rover finds proof of wet past

The Mars rover Spirit has uncovered the strongest evidence yet that the planet
used to be wetter than previously thought, scientists reported Monday. The
robot analyzed a patch of soil in Gusev Crater and found it unusually rich in
silica. The presence of water would have been necessary to produce such a
large silica deposit.

Google's novel idea for FCC radio spectrum auction

Google on Monday urged the Federal Communications Commission to think outside
the box in designing the rules for its upcoming auction of radio spectrum. The
company hopes that the FCC will use the auction to encourage more efficient
use of radio spectrum in the U.S.

IBM turns business software into 3D game
---------------------------------------------
IBM on Monday introduced a three-dimensional video game that puts a
businessperson in a virtual office with the task of constructing a more
efficient company. The game, called Innov8, is meant to address a lack of
skills in understanding and improving a company's internal business processes.

New T-Mobile phone runs Windows Mobile 6
---------------------------------------------
T-Mobile USA on Tuesday will launch the first cellphone in the U.S. to come
with Microsoft's latest version of Windows Mobile, with improved handling of e-
mail and tougher security. The T-Mobile Wing costs $299 with a two-year
contract and runs Windows Mobile 6.
