Early Advice for Emmy, Part 2: Ugly Betty and 30 Rock Were Tops in Comedy

In my April 10 column I asked, who would be this year's Emmy favorites in the drama series categories? I wondered if voting members of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences would send The Sopranos off with a fresh round of awards, or honor such deserving freshmen as Friday Night Lights and Dexter? I recalled that many fine actors were egregiously overlooked last season when the Emmy nominations were announced -- among them Hugh Laurie of House, Felicity Huffman of Desperate Housewives, Mary-Louise Parker of Weeds, Jason Lee of My Name is Earl and Edie Falco and James Gandolfini of The Sopranos.
