Cindy Sheehan, who became the most visible leader of the
anti-war movement after her son died in Iraq, said she is
giving up peace activism.

Sheehan, who camped outside U.S. President George Bush's
Crawford, Texas, ranch when he refused to meet with her
about the death of her 24-year-old son, Casey, posted her
thoughts in an online letter entitled "Good Riddance
Attention Whore," CNN reported. Bush met with the
Sheehan family in June, about two months after Casey
Sheehan died but didn't agree to further meetings.

"I have tried every since he died to make his sacrifice
meaningful," she wrote. "Casey died for a country which
cares more about who will be the next American Idol than
how many people will be killed in the next few months
while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human
lives."

Sheehan, a California resident and founder of the group
Gold Star Families for Peace, posted her letter on
Monday on the liberal Web site the Daily Kos.

She said her anti-war work had left her with no money,
a ruined marriage and disillusioned with Democratic
politicians who have not ended the war, CNN reported.

"I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving
children and try to regain some of what I have lost,"
Sheehan wrote.

What are your thought on Cindy Sheehan quitting her
peace movement?

Endurance swimmer takes polar plunge
British swimmer Lewis Gordon Pugh, nicknamed the Polar
Bear, plans to become the first man to swim 1 kilometer --
.62 miles -- at the North Pole. Pugh is making the plunge
in the icy cold water -- 1.8 degrees below Celsius or
28.8 degrees Fahrenheit -- at the North Pole to raise
awareness of climate change, Sky News reported. The
37-year-old is nicknamed the Polar Bear because of his
ability to withstand extreme cold. His 1-kilometer swim
will take place in an area that used to be completely
frozen over at this time of year. "In recent years, the
Arctic has had the greatest increase in air temperatures
in the world, and a substantial decrease in sea ice," said
Pugh. "Scientists predict that by the year 2040, the
Arctic may be nearly devoid of ice during the summer.
"This will be, by far, the hardest swim I've ever
undertaken. I hope it will help illustrate the incredible
seriousness of climate change and put pressure on the
leaders of the G8 summit to cut carbon emissions
dramatically."

Italians fed up with noisy church bells
Italians whose ears are ringing from church bells tolling
every quarter-hour are suing their noisy neighbors.
Monsignor Paolo Urso of the Italian Bishops Conference
Judicial Office told The Telegraph that lawsuits have been
filed over the pealing bells. "What we have advised is
that priests do not chime bells before 7 a.m. and after
10 p.m. But I understand in some cases this has been
breached, especially in the early morning," Urso told
the British newspaper. Retired professor Flora Leuzzi
sued over the noise coming from St. Stephen in Lavagna,
near Genoa. "I bought the place so I could enjoy my
retirement and have some peace and quiet. But the bells
ring every 15 minutes from 5:15 a.m.," he said. "I asked
the priest if he could start later but he refused, so in
the end I brought a complaint of noise pollution against
him. I cannot listen to the television or the radio, and
reading a book or a newspaper is out of the question."

Spanish bridal shop caters to gay men
A Spanish businessman says his soon-to-open designer bridal
shop is a first for Europe -- a wedding clothes emporium
aimed specifically at gay men. Santiago Porrero of
Barcelona said his shop, called By, will feature
custom-made suits -- some inlaid with 22-carat gold --
selling for between $2,000 and about $8,000, The
Independent reported. The shop, which opens its doors for
the first time this week, also will offer a variety of
designer rings, boxer shorts, bathrobes and other
accessories for both homosexual and heterosexual nuptials.
"We saw there was a gap in the market for gay men, though
we are not only aiming for homosexuals," Porrero said. "It
is called By because each person can have a unique
creation by one of our designers. There will only be one
of these suits in the world." Porrero said he began
planning the business after the Spanish Parliament
legalized gay marriage in 2005. "I saw the opportunity
to do business after the law was approved. I didn't know
of any other country that had a shop or boutique for gay
weddings," he said. "It was obvious that gays, who also
marry, needed their own bride shop."

What are your thought on this mom suing a baseball coach
for bad coaching?

"BULL!! The whole idea of little boys playing sports is
to get banged up and skin a few knees and leave with a
few battle wounds. Take the fun out of childhood why don't
ya? Let me sue the makers of roller blades because I fell
down and twisted my ankle."

"The coaches do a fine job, and usually get no pay. they
should be subject to that kind of torment."
Russ

"This woman has to be out of her mind! I hope the judge
has the good sense to send her down the road, without one
red cent. This is one of the dumbest things I have heard
in a very long time."
